After attending several seminars on the topic of Third Culture Kids and related themes, I realized that my understanding as a parent had deepened significantly. However, the challenge of nurturing our daughters in the best possible way—especially following the educational choices we made during their childhood—continued to evolve over the years, taking on new nuances as they entered adolescence.
To better support my daughters and enhance my communication skills as a parent, I decided to pursue formal training and become a qualified counselor. My background includes training as an early childhood educator and a university degree in Ancient History. Over the years, I’ve cultivated my passion for education through volunteering and participating in cultural activities related to teaching the Italian language and archaeology.
Training to become a counselor has provided me with new, effective communication tools. Still, above all, it has reminded me of the fundamental importance of observation—paying close attention to an individual’s gestures and expressions—and, most importantly, active listening. These skills are essential when it comes to helping someone in an emotional crisis to overcome their impasse.
My goal is to share insights and strategies that can empower parents, educators, and caregivers to understand better and support Third Culture Kids and all young people navigating complex emotional landscapes
